New York, New York

*My New York trip blog will be in 2 parts otherwise it will be soooooo long* haha.

4:02am: I woke up with my heart racing because today is the day. I leave everyone behind in England to move to the States for 4 months.

I got showered and ready and if i couldnt get any more extra about this trip we took a few pictures in front of our huuuge flag haha.

At 6am sharp, we were on our way to Manchester Airport - I like to call that Airport my second home haha.

We were stuck in traffic allllll the way to the airport! However we made it around 7.30. We parked in the dropoff section of terminal 1 and I said my goodbye to my Mum. My dad stood with me at check in for as long as he could, luckily I had premium check in so it was nice and quick. But my Dad had to leave me to take the car. Honestly, when my dad left i started to cry because I knew i wasn't going to see him or my mum for 13 weeks (just over 3 months) until they come to Vegas with my Aunty. I had to pull myself together as i didn't want to be stood by myself at check in crying my eyes out infront of strangers haha!

About 10 minutes later I had checked in and met Fran, Amy and Robbie before security and Dan shortly followed.

As I had first class, I was able to get priority check in and fast track! I'm pretty sure I could go into the premium lounge, although I didnt want to part with the Gang.

We also met up with Emma, whom was on our flight to JFK but she is connecting to Jacksonville, Florida.

Then it was almost time to board, agh!!!! Again, as I was in first class I was able to board the plane first which was great! I was then greeted on board with a glass of sparkling wine and sour cream pretzels. At first I didnt think I had a TV, turns out if youre sat on the exit seats they're hidden in the arm rest along with a fancy tray!

Of course I made myself at home, making full use of my complimentary pillow and blanket haha! We also got a really nice water bottle with a toothbrush, toothpaste, flight socks, hand sanitizer and earphones in! I was so impressed.

Shortly after takeoff, (we were delayed by just over an hour because some food was being transported to the plane!) we were offered more complimentary drinks!

I had the passion fruit martini which was sooo lovely! I then discovered the tv which was stored by the side of my seat... well this was heaven! They had very updated films including: Girl on the Train (which i watched first), moana, Why Him?, fantastic beasts and many more.

No sooner had i settled and they were bringing out MORE drinks... totally not complaining! Shortly followed by our premium cooked James Martin food!

I had bbq beef brisket with macaroni cheese! It was bloody beautiful to say it was plane food! SORRY DAD! If anyone didn't know, my dads ultimate Man crush is James Martin! I then proceeded to have a warm bread roll with butter, and cheese and biscuits with a fig and date compote. My stuffy nose seemed to clear for the main course, however I couldnt taste a thing of my Chocolate, Caramel and Ginger cheesecake or my Magners cider!

Rumour had it that I would be getting Afternoon tea before landing.

Not long after, I attempted to watch fragments of various other films, but ended up falling asleep.

I then went and visited Robbie and Fran for a little while, one of the lovely air hostesses came and got me and showed me to their seats. Amy was asleep bless her!

My James Martin Afternoon tea came round whilst Inwas watching Moana. It was lovely! It consisted of 2 baby sandwiches, one egg mayo and cress, and the other cheese and tomato. Complimented by a scone with jam and clotted cream and carrot cake! All washed down with a cup of tea. Safe to say I was absolutely stuffed!!

Once we stopped circling JFK - we was 18th in the queue to land which took forever! Luckily I got to get off the plane and through customs swiftly, with my case being one of the first off!

Amy had a different scenario! She got stopped through customs, the immigration team thought her documents were fake! Thankfully around an hour later she was let through customs and we got a taxi to the HI NYC hostel which we would be staying in for the next 3 nights with others from Frenchwoods. We did however only expect to have a 4 bed room, but we got a 6, so we made this poor girl jump out of her skin in the middle of her nap haha! Her name is Summer and she is going to a different camp.

We then headed down to greet a few fellow frenchwoods pals and headed to mcdonalds which is conveniently only a 2 minute walk away. I only got a drink as i wasnt hungry after my plane food. But oh my gosh, everything you ask for large, is for sure LARGE!

We headed back to the theatre room to socialise for a while, but ended up in bed at 8:15 very jet lagged! But also we were up early to see good morning america live!!!

We awoke at 3.30 after not very much sleep to see good morning america! We were one of the first there at 5:15am! Not going to lie, I really do not like the hostel much and i'm not sure I could adapt to it if i tried. I think it's maybe because we were sharing with strangers and i'm not really used to not having a bathroom close.

Good morning america was great!!! We got to be on TV! Not even in america 24 hours and we were all getting ourselves on TV hahah!

My lovely friend Debra took a few poctures of us on TV! Thanks Debra!

We even got to meet one of the presenters named Michael. Rumour has it that he is a well known ex american football player!

We then headed to a very cloudy Times Square, and ate at Applebees for our first American breakfast of many. The waitress was so lovely and also very humoured when we were all trying to work out the value of american coins. AMERICANS WHY ARE YOU SO CONFUSING!

Andddddd, we did lots of shopping, and visited hard rock cafe!

We then wandered around New York, in and out of shops. We even got to see the sunshine and it was getting hotter and hotter the more we were walking! We also visited Grand Central Station! We saw a wedding which was taking place there which was so cute!

After visiting grand central, we found our way to the Rockefeller centre. Only then, we couldnt find the entrance to the top of the rock! After a nice sit down and more running around, we found the entrance, only to be told the next available trip up to the observatory platforms would be 8.30pm. So we headed in search for food and settled on an Irish pub, crazy i know, go all the way to New York and eat at somewhere from our neck of the woods haha. I had lovely chicken quesadillas - they were beautiful.

We then headedto Hollister on 5th Avenue and eventually made our way back to the rockefeller.

When we finally got to the observatory decks, oh my god I forgot how amazing the view is! The pictures speak for themselves really.

When we were up there, it started fork lightening which wass quite scary as i already am very scared of thunder and lightening. We were then told we needed to exit the deck due to the weather.

New York really does have every season within a day just like the UK haha - even though this time around it's not freezing.
Eventually at around 10:15pm we arrived at the hostel absoloutely drained from being up since 3.30am!

TO BE CONTINUED...

xoxo Jade
